So we write this manual guide particularly for troubleshooting this situation. Read this article to learn how to bypass MDM if the device connection is not found.
Check if your situation applies
- You are trying to bypass MDM with our BuhoUnlocker. But when you connect your device to your computer, the device connection was not found.
- Check if this issue is caused by MDM restriction: open Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > tap a MDM Profile in MOBILE DEVICE MANAGEMENT section > tap Restrictions:
- Please check if your MDM restrictions include (but not limited to) the following options:
- USB accessories while locked not allowed
- Pairing with iTunes not allowed
- Booting into recovery by unpaired external source not allowed

Remember that when you find an MDM profile, you verify that a device is managed. Otherwise, if there’s no MDM profile, then the device isn’t managed.
If you're facing one of the situations above, you can move on to check the following two methods to bypass MDM on your device.
Method 1: Reset Device
- Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.
- Tap Continue when asked > confirm to Erase iPhone > enter your iPhone passcode to proceed.
Please keep it noted that this will complete wipe out your data, content and settings on your iPhone or iPad, so make sure to back up your device so that you can restore your data later.
- After resetting your device, you'll be asked to set up your device. Stop when you process to the Remote Management step.
- Now open BuhoUnlocker > keep your device connected to your computer > Click Bypass MDM to continue (detailed steps).
The MDM bypassing progress will be done in seconds.
Method 2: Unlock Screen Passcode Before MDM Bypassing
The customized MDM can also prevent you from resetting your device. If so, you need to use the Unlock Screen Passcode feature prior to bypassing MDM. Here are the steps to go.
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer.
- Put your device into Recovery Mode.
- Use the Unlock Screen Passcode feature to unlock your device first (detailed steps).
Once the process complete, you'll be asked to set up your device.

How to Activate BuhoUnlocker
Download and install BuhoUnlocker on your computer.
Launch BuhoUnlocker.
Click the Buy Now button on the top right corner of the BuhoUnlocker app.
- If you have an activation code, click Enter License Code button.
If you don't have an activation code yet, click the Buy Now button in the app to open our Buy page, select your plan and complete payment, you will receive an email with your activation code.
- Paste your activation code into the box and click the Activate button.
- Your BuhoUnlocker activation is now successed.

Uninstalling BuhoUnlocker

How to Uninstall BuhoUnlocker on Mac
It's easy to uninstall BuhoUnlocker from your Mac. Here's how:
Quit BuhoUnlocker.
Open Finder > Applications.
Locate BuhoUnlocker and drag it to your Trash.
Or, you can download and install BuhoCleaner to your Mac, then use App Uninstall feature to completely remove BuhoUnlocker from your computer.

Unlock Screen Passcode

Step 1: Select Unlock Screen Passcode

- To prevent your device from rebooting failures, please make sure the battery is above 20%.

Step 3: Download firmware
- Click the Download Now button to download the latest iOS firmware that's prepared for your device (If you have already downloaded firmware, click import to manually select your firmware).
- After that, you'll see the iOS/iPadOS device firmware downloading progress.
- Please keep your device connected and DO NOT quit BuhoUnlocker during the downloading process.
- The firmware downloading speed depends on your network performance. It's suggested to do the downloading in network stable environment.
Step 4: Start To Unlock Screen Passcode
- Wait for the downloading process to complete. When finished, click Unlock Now.
- Again, please note that the iOS on this device will be updated to the latest version after unlocking.
- The screen lock unlocking process will erase all content and data on this device.
- The restoring process may be a bit long, please be patient.
- Please keep your device connected and DO NOT quit BuhoUnlocker during the whole process.
- After the restoration is completed, you can click Completed to get back to the BuhoUnlocker home screen.
- After unlocking the screen passcode from this device, it will restart and you can use it as normal after restarting.
- The content on this device will be erased after the unlocking process. You can get your data back by restoring it from iCloud/iTunes backup.

- Currently we don't support bypassing MDM if the Find My option is enabled. Please turn it off manually before starting.
- Bypassing MDM will not update the iOS version.
- This will keep your device data to the greatest extent.
- After bypassing MDM, please don't choose the Restore from iCloud Backup option from the App & Data screen. Otherwise, your device would get locked up again by MDM.
- Don't reset/update your device after removing MDM, otherwise, it will show up again. And you'll need to redo the MDM removal.
- To prevent your device from rebooting failure, please make sure the battery is about 20%.
